Thailand which is also called as Siam Thai is an independent country and is located in the Southeast Asia. The following article will share a brief geography of Siam Thai popularly known as Thailand. With the total of 513,120 square kilometres (198,120 sq mi), the land of Thailand is the 50th largest country of the world in terms of total area. The country is also the 20th largest country of the world in terms of population. It is comparable in population to countries like France and the United States and is similar in land size to France and California in the United States. This simply shows the brief geography of Thailand.

When we consider about the climatic condition of Thailand, the local climate the country is tropical and characterized by monsoons. From mid-May to September, the weather is warm, it’s rainy as well as cloudy southwest monsoon. Meanwhile, from November to mid-March the weather is cool, dry and northeast monsoon. However, the southern isthmus is always hot and humid. Going further with the geography of Siam Thai, the land is home to various distinct geographic regions, partially corresponding to the provincial groups.

The northern part of the country of Thailand is mountainous; the highest point is Doi Inthanon with 2,565 meters above sea level. The country’s northeastern part comprised of Isan which consists of Khorat Plateau. However, the central part of the country is dominated by the flat Chao Phraya river valley, which runs into the Gulf of Thailand. The southern part of the land comprises of the narrow Kra Isthumus that widen into the Malay Peninsula. Considering the Siam Thai geography, we also came to know that the country has further six geographical regions which are different from the others in population, basic resources, natural features, and level of social as well as economic development.

The river such as Chao Phraya and Mekong River are the major resource of rural part of Thailand. Rivers & their tributaries are used for the productions of crops. The gulf of Thailand covering 320,000 square kilometers is fed by - Chao Phraya, Mae Klong, Bang Pakong & Tapi Rivers. It contributes to the tourism sector owing to its clear shallow waters along the coasts in the Southern Region and the Kra Isthmus. The Andaman Sea is regarded as Thailand's most precious natural resource as it hosts the most popular and luxurious resorts in Asia.
